Pavers

We can design and build your next project

To properly install your paver patio or walkway, we excavate the existing soil and create a new solid base of drainage stone that is a minimum of 6 inches for normal foot traffic and 8–10 inches in areas where there is vehicular traffic driving over pavers.

The next step is to level the drainage stones to grade then install a 1-inch layer of 1/4-inch stone chips for a smooth level surface to install pavers. We then install pavers in the style chosen, cutting pavers in all edges to complete the design. We then install edge restraints to secure perimeter of the walkway or patio to prevent shifting and spreading.

Once pavers and edge restraints are in place, we cover the pavers with polymeric sand and sweep into all the joints. Once that is completed, we compact the pavers with vibrating plate compactor to ensure the pavers are set in place. Once the compaction is done, we sweep up the remaining polymeric sand then water lightly to activate the sand, and we are finished.

Why choose pavers over concrete?

  • Pavers do not crack like concrete when the ground settles. When pavers settle you can come in and remove them, fix the foundation and relay them.
  • Pavers keep their great, unique look and color over time. They are also manufactured and quality tested in a factory with a controlled environment where concrete is poured in all weather conditions and variables.
  • With pavers you can create a unique, customized walkway or patio with assorted designs and shapes, choosing multiple colors and textures to suit your style.

At New Perspective Landscaping LLC., we will sit down and discuss your wants, needs and ideas and make the design process as easy as possible by choosing the right materials for your next walkway and patio project.

Retaining Walls

Retaining walls can add beauty to your landscape and enhance the value of your property. Retaining walls enhance and retain slopes to create a useable level ground.

Designing and building a retaining wall is more critical than you may think. For walls taller than 2 1/2 feet, the use of the bonding stone and installation of a drainage system are necessary for long-time stability. Walls are built leaning back towards the slope at about 2 inches per foot. Drainage is critical as hydraulic pressure can cause a wall to fail. For walls of any size landscape fabric is necessary to stop soil from washing through and creating erosion above and behind the wall.

To properly install a retaining wall, we evacuate the existing soil, and we install a minimum of a 6-inch base of drainage stone then we compact with a vibrating plate compactor. We install the first row of retaining wall block, levelling, and sloping them one at a time.

The next step is to install landscape fabric between the excavated soil and the retaining wall so that you can install drainage stone, if a drainpipe is needed, we install it at this time, at the base layer of retaining wall blocks. Then backfill in between retaining wall blocks and excavated ground with the draining stone.

Once we have your base layer of retaining wall blocks installed, we will continue row by row gluing every row together with landscape adhesive and backfilling with draining stone. In walls over 2 1/2 feet tall, we will install geo grid every other row to insure proper reinforcement of soil behind the retaining wall.

When the wall is fully constructed, we then fold the landscape fabric over the drainage stone to completely cover it and then add soil or decorative stone on top to finish grade.
